‘Player of the Year – Rookie of the Year – 50 goals for the first time in 92 years’ Holland targets treble with Man City & chases PL record 63 goals

Elling Holland (Manchester City) has been named Premier League Player of the Year.

“Holland has become the fourth Manchester City player to be named Player of the Year,” the Premier League announced on its official website on 27 July.

Holland faced stiff competition. He was up against Kevin De Bruyne (City), Harry Kane (Tottenham) and Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) for the honour.

The winners were selected by a public vote. According to the Premier League Secretariat, the voting was conducted by captains of the 20 PL clubs and football experts.메이저놀이터

The player with the most votes was Holland. Holland was recognised for his 36 goals this season, which made him the highest single-season goalscorer in English top-flight history, ahead of Andy Cole and Alan Shearer’s 34.

This is the fourth consecutive season City have had a player of the year, following Der Bruyne in 2019-2020, Jubeng Dias in 2020-2021 and Der Bruyne in 2021-2022.

Holland is the fourth player in City’s history to win the award. Vincent Kompany won the honour in 2011-2012, followed by De Bruyne, Dias and now Holland.

Notably, Holland also won the Rookie of the Year award. “Holland is the first player in Premier League history to win both the Young Player and Player of the Year awards,” said the PL secretariat.

Having won both the Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards, Holland has already been recognised by Premier League pundits.

“Congratulations to Elling Holland and Sam Kerr on being named Footballer of the Year and Women’s Footballer of the Year,” the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) said on its official website on 12 December.

“Holland has won by a huge margin since making her debut for England and is on course for a treble with Manchester City, having scored 51 goals so far this season. “Holland was in a close race with Vukayo Sakho for some time among the 800 FWA members, but he emerged victorious with 82 per cent of the vote, the largest margin of victory since the Premier League began.

Holland’s best result yet, and he’s going for a new record. A treble.

First up, he’s going for a treble. His club, Man City, is on course to win the PL title over Arsenal.

They’re also in the UEFA Champions League final.

They face local rivals Manchester United in the final of the English Football Association Cup (FA Cup). The door is still open for a City treble.

There are also personal goals. Holland will attempt to break the record for most goals in a season by a player in England’s top flight.
