The first day of the Hanwha LifePlus International Crown, the women’s national golf tournament held in five years, has been confirmed. In Korea, Jeon In-ji, the ‘eldest sister’, and Choi Hye-jin, the ‘youngest’, are at the forefront.
The Hanwha LifePlus International Crown will be held at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California for four days from the 5th (Korean time). The tournament, a national competition in which eight countries, including Korea, the United States, Japan, Thailand, Australia, England, Sweden and China, compete for four days, will be held for the first time in five years since 2018 in the aftermath of the Corona 19 pandemic. Korea, the winner of the 2018 tournament, is aiming for a second consecutive championship with Ko Jin-young, Kim Hyo-joo, Jeon In-ji, and Choi Hye-jin at the forefront.
In this tournament, 8 countries will be divided into 2 groups, and after the group stage, the 1st and 2nd place teams in each group will determine the winner through a semi-final tournament. Korea was placed in Group B with Japan, Thailand and Australia. In the group stage, two-person teams form a team and each team plays with a ball, and a four-ball match is held, with the better score being the team score. In the tournament, the final winner is determined through the winning points of three matches, including two single match play matches and one foursome match (a method in which two players alternately hit the same ball).
Korea faces Australia on the first day. In the four-ball match on the first day of the tournament, which was announced on the 3rd, Korea’s Jeon In-ji and Choi Hye-jin will go first and face off against Lee Min-ji and Steph Kiriaku. Then, Jinyoung Ko and Hyojoo Kim will play with Hannah Green and Sarah Camp. Jeon In-ji, the only Korean player with experience in the international crown, expects new-structure harmony synergy with Choi Hye-jin, the ‘youngest’. This is followed by the one-two punch combination, which has the highest world ranking in Korea.
There was also a four-ball match between Japan and Thailand, the same group as Korea. Japan’s Yuka Saso-Furue Ayaka met Patty Tabatanakit-Ataya Tittikkun from Thailand. Then Nasa Hataoka and Hinako Shibuno face off against the sisters Moriya and Ariya Jutanugarn. In Group A, Sweden and England will play first, followed by the United States and China.
