None of the South Korean players reached the round of 16 at the US Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour’s Bank of Hope Match Play ($1.5 million purse) event.
Kim played to a draw with Cheyenne Knight (USA) in the third round of Group 13 on the fourth day of the tournament at Shadow Creek Golf Club (Par 72 – 6,804 yards) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on Sunday (27 July).
With one win and one draw, Kim failed to advance to the round of 16 after being edged out by Knight, who had two wins and one draw.
Kim was one shot away from victory until the 17th hole, when she dropped a shot on the par-4 18th to tie the match.안전놀이터
Had she won the match, she would have advanced to the round of 16.
Lee Jeong-jeong, who was tied for first place in Group 2 after the second round of play, also lost by four strokes to Brooke Henderson (CAN) on the day.
Lee now has one win, one draw and one loss, while Sophia Schubert (USA), who has two wins and one draw in Group 2, punched her ticket to the Round of 16.
In Group 7, Ji-Eun Shin (KOR) improved to 2-1 with a one-hole victory over Linea Strom (SWE), but it was Riona Maguire (IRL) who reached the last 16 with three wins.
Last year’s winner of the event, Ji-Hee Lee of Group 8, lost to Lynn Grant (SWE) by two holes to go down 1 and 2.
In Group 15, Hae-Ran Lee (KOR) won her head-to-head match-up with A-Rim Kim (KOR) by three strokes to make it 2 and 1, but Lindsey Weaver Wright (USA), who won 2 and 1, advanced to the round of 16.
The round of 16 is set for Alban Valenzuela (SUI), Schubert and Celine Boutier (FRA), Allison Lee (USA), Ayaka Furue (JPN), Maguire, Grant and Daniela D’Arquea (ECU), Perrine Delacourt (FRA), Maya Stark (SWE), Carlota Zagida (ESP), Knight and Angel Inn (USA), Weaver Wright and Anna Nordqvist (SWE).
In Group 4, Caris Davidson (AUS) and Pajari Annanarukarn (THA) will meet in extra time to determine the last 16.
Korean-American player Allison Lee (USA) finished first in Group 5 with one win and two draws.
